Restaurants I Love

I don’t know about you but I often struggle when I travel to new places to find meals that are free from animal products. Unfortunately there are too few good vegetarian restaurants in this world or restaurants serving delicious vegetarian fare amongst their other non-vegetarian staples. I am not big on fancy food, preferring healthy hearty meals that speak volumes in taste. A holiday for me is less amazing if I have to compromise on food. And so I have started to compile this list of restaurants so that you too will have some informed choices when you travel. Just please note that restaurants come and go, though I will try my best to keep this list current and up to date.

Stockholm, Sweden

The Green Queen Vegetarian, vegan and raw by Lake Malaren. My pick for a filling vegan burger followed by a raw dessert.
Green Peas Creative and nourishing vegetarian/vegan meals, food for the soul!
Stockholm Raw Seriously tasty meals with a focus on the real rather than dehydration.
Les Petits Boudins Come for the vegetarian/vegan soups or fika on their vegan brownies.
Pepstop Strictly vegan and mostly raw, for the hardcore fans.
The Plant Ignore the food court surrounds because you're here for the vegan burgers, the house specialty. Served with a choice of boiled potatoes or salad, no french fries here!

Sydney, Australia

Iku My favourite place to eat in Sydney. Iku is a vegan macrobiotic café.
Mother Chu’s Vegetarian Kitchen  Try the salt and pepper tofu, deliciously light with a hint of spice, the bean and tempeh and clay pot meals.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Nolu's Cafe Afghani specialities in cool Californian style so expect super healthy salads alongside spiced up robust dishes.
Almaz by Momo There are lots of couscous dishes but we never get past the mezze selection as it is primarily vegetarian.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Baker and Spice I could eat lunch here every day... a purveyor of primarily organic ingredients this place elevates the salad from accompaniment to show-stopping mains.
Comptoir 102 Cool and stylish, any cafe that makes their own almond milk and offers it as a dairy free alternative gets extra kudos with me.
Omnia Gourmet The food is predominantly organic with most ingredients sourced locally and at least one raw savoury dish on the menu.

Paris, France

Rose Bakery It's not vegetarian but there is a sympathy for herbivores and an appreciation for healthier choices which makes the whole eating experience at her restaurant remarkably special.

New York, United States

Hangawi Order the ssam bab, the vegetarian version of Asian lettuce wraps, three types of rice, sautéed mushrooms, a selection of vegetables and a bean paste sauce that is out of this world.
One Lucky Duck A less intimidating approach to raw food, try the tiramisu it's spot on.
Dirt Candy Avant-garde in their creations, vegetables are singled out and celebrated on their individual merits.

Jaipur, India

Anokhi Cafe It's the vegetarian restaurant in town if you want a break from Indian food or are craving a green salad (greens sourced from their own organic farm)
